Heard it in a Past Life
Album redesign by Bronte Moore
Throughout this assessment we were given the task of redesigning a vinyl album cover. My chosen artist and album is Maggie Rogers, Heard it in a Past Life. This album means a great deal to me personally and I find inspiration and joy listening to her music. This assessment was harder than I originally thought as it involved much trial and error and experimentation. I initially sketched the three designs but as I was still unsure of which direction to head I decided to complete each over as I imaged them. Each cover represented a different aspect of Maggie's aesthetic and personality, however I chose the final cover because of the simplistic boldness. A technique I used in on each cover and poster was adding a textured grain effect to make things appear like film photography, as when I was researching I found that nearly all of her images on Instagram had a heavy film grain effect. When I personally think of Maggie Rogers I think of feminism and also feminine beauty. She manages to balance her womanhood and express it beautifully, while advocating for others without such a large platform.

The poster is meant to capture the simplicity seen in the first album over. It uses the same style, but a different image. I used the same technique which can be found in the video below as I did for the album cover.
